Since mid-July I’ve been taking Pedal Power spin class at Sweat Like a Girl in Nazareth to up my cycling game and to help me train. I’m the one in a white Headsweats headband, and probably the only one in cycling shorts. For the last 5 years I participated in the GranFondo NJ bike ride, through scenic Morristown, Chester, Bernardsville, and other parts of Morris County, NJ. (shameless plug: it’s an awesome event, no matter which route you choose to ride, plus the free beer at the end is worth the grind.) This year my goal was to beat my overall finish time and the timed hill climb. Unfortunately I traveled an awful lot for work this year working on a major project, and Mother Nature wasn’t cooperating with the days that I could train when I got home, so I opted to try a spin class. I’ve taken a class with Heather, Sam and Angie depending on what fits my schedule, 7 classes later I’ve gained strength in my legs to climb better and posted a fantastic finish time. I have yet to see the results from the timed climb but I am happy with finishing 42 miles in 4 hours even, that’s 12 minutes faster than last year!
I enjoy Pedal Power with all the ladies and have met some wonderful people, I hope to keep this up throughout the winter for my off season training!
